Alison Doody

Alison Doody, born 11 November 1966 in Ireland, is an actress and model. Alison Doody first made a film debut as the Bond girl in A View to a Kill, (1985). Then she was in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. Doody portrayed Nazi sympathetic archaeologist Elsa Schneider. The other roles she played include Siobhan Donavan as Charlotte in A Prayer for the Dying (1987) Charlotte in Taffin (1988) as well as Rebecca Flannery in Major League II (1994). Doody was a model when she was approached. The outcome proved to be a lucrative career. Doody was adamantly against glamour and sexually explicit work. This was a policy she extended to her acting career. She accepted a small role as Jenny Flex for 1985's A View to a Kill when her name was picked by the director of casting. Doody was selected as one of the top twelve promising young actors in 1986 by John Willis Screen World. 38. She played opposite Pierce Brosnan in the film Taffin (1988) prior to taking possibly her most famous role to date in the role of Austrian Nazi-sympathiser and archaeologist the Dr. Elsa Schneider in 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade playing opposite Harrison Ford. Doody was in the film with Sean Connery, who played Indiana Jones' father. Doody was in the British miniseries Selling Hitler with Jonathan Pryce. The show was inspired by The Hitler Diaries publication scam. When she moved to Hollywood Doody made her famous. She replaced Cybill Shepherd as the L'Oreal spokesperson's character. Doody then appeared as Flannery Sheen's girlfriend and his agent alongside Charlie Sheen, as Major League II was released in 1994. Doody returned to acting in 2003 when she played a minuscule part on the British comedy film The Actors, in which Michael Caine played herself at the awards ceremony. Her roles include an appearance in a TV movie adaptation of King Solomon's Mines in 2004 and a book about the Holocaust as well as an animated short called Benjamin's Struggle in 2005. Doody was also cast in Danny Dyer's The Rapture (2009). Later, she appeared as a guest in the medical drama of RTE The Clinic and was set to be the lead actress in a remake of the classic horror film The Asphyx but the project was later put on hold. Pam Jefferson was her character in the E4 comedy Beaver Falls for two seasons. She appeared in We Still Kill the Old Way (2014).
